Should university students be required to attend classes?

Should university students be required to attend classes? Some people believe that attending classes should be optional for students, but really disagree with them about it. In do not understand how university students can expect to learn much knowledge if thy do not attend classes. Although, self-study is a good way to acquire knowledge, I am of the opinion that no matter they like or not, university students should be required to attend classes because of following reasons.

Should drugs be allowed in Sports

49% of high school students use steroids to improve athletic performance. Steroids can increase performances for athletes but steroids also affect the mind and character of the person. Some effects of steroids are impaired learning and hearing, violent behavior, and overly aggressive behavior. When women take steroids they start to show signs of masculinity such as deepening of the voice, increase in body and facial hair also the skin starts to roughen. Anabolic steroids give the one who takes them an unfair advantage in athletic competition. The advantage that they receive is not the same as natural born characteristics of ability.
Another drug that some professional athletes seem to have an obsession with is cocaine. Cocaine was considered to be the drug of the eighties and it proved to be especially in the sport of baseball. During the 1980’s cocaine seemed to be the drug of baseball. Many players in baseball were effected by coke including former all-star outfielder Daryl Strawberry and pitching ace Steve Howe were suspended from baseball for cocaine use and cocaine possession. Cocaine is on all the four major professional banned substance list and so are all illegal substances that can enhance an athlete’s performance. Many professional athletes have turned to natural sources of performance enhancers, which are found in the human body.
In conclusion, I believe that all synthetic drugs should be banned from sports and that all athletes that have any illegal drug in their system should be banned from that sport for life. I also believe that there should be no rehabilitation paid for by the league, which would allow the athlete to apply for reinstatement. The use of drugs should not be allowed for any professional or amateur sport that one could compete against others in.

A letter to a newspaper

Well nowadays most people chew gum. It has some good sides, like help fight cavity and so on. But like everything now in the modern time it also has a bad side as well. For instance it’s rude to chew gum during lessons, meetings, etc. And it also weakens your concentration, and is bad for the health too. Furthermore if you read the writings on a gum pack you can find that pregnant women should not chew gums. However, in some countries chewing gum at school is against the rules, because it sticks to stuffs and makes furniture dirty.

Courage

Nothing is ever really perfect. There is no magical solution for any of your problems. You need to suffer! Do I sound too simplistic? Then be simplistic like me, but don’t lose your hopes. Keep them in a safe place, because you’ll need them regularly during life’s journey. If you have no hopes, you’d better acquire some: it’s easy and it’s free. You can, for example, hope to become rich. Don’t just hope to be or to have something that doesn’t exist however, because it sounds ‘crazy’. You must hope to see the impossible happen to you, even if it does exist.

Should we ban smoking in all public places?

Should we ban smoking in all public places (your advices and comments really need my letter my english class`s guys and girls !) good luck my lttr :)

In recent days smoking among girls is ever increasing and it`s frightening my opinion muchly. It seems that they pretend as like proud and stately when they smoking cigarettes. It seems that they are acting because of the example in the past of american and europian women, who are rich and beautiful smoke using long and narrow thing. For example of is as for rethorica showing their inner wrist when they smoke attract men and maybe they express their enter opinion trought their eyes. Acting this move seems like attracting other sight for them. From the point of smokers smoking isolated aera from others and in small and boring room gives them negative pleasure. I think it`s said that smoking cigarettes is mental affair but choosing place to smoke is more than from it.
As far as i know people who next to person who is smoking poison ten times more from the first smoker and smokers shoild understand this. Finally every smokers thinking about the other people`s pretension interests to use poison in the right way . (according to legal) It`s maybe small thing but every big things begin to small things. (we don`t forget it) Maybe it`s the one way to develop our sociaty. And also it`s said by Adam smith `` every person should do what they can is significant to the development of the country`` .
Thank you for your sparing some time for my letter :)

Same topic: We ruin our culture by ourselves, don't we?

First of all, i'd like to say that i read all of your posts and you guys did very well!!! But there was a topic that i'd really impressed 'We ruin our culture by ourselves, don't we?". And i wanted to add my point of view on it!

In my point of view, in order to save our culture from the outside world, we need more and more nationalism. We can begin it from very small things. We can buy "made in Mongolia" products, wear "deel" sometimes, or just watch national wrestling instead of sumo. We have to show and acknowledge our culture to world, not ruining!

However, we know that we can't keep pace with 21st century without considering new improvements of other cultures. In other words, our culture has a problem which is old, or maybe little bit hard to improve. But i believe that we can solve it by learning the methods from other countries' advanced culture to improve ours, not by completely copying! Wether our culture ruin or rise is depend on us. So that, we have to do our best, get the best education, gain the power, and keep existing our precious CULTURE. :)

Certainly you will answer “Yes” since you know English. But how many of Mongolians will answer so?

Should we live as an extended family or as a nuclear family? /Letter to newspaper/

Should we live as an extended family or as a nuclear family?
In some cultures it is common for the extended family to live together particularly in Asian countries, while in other cultures it is more common for only the nuclear family to live together. In my culture, and in my family, it is quite common for the extended family to live together; my grandmother and one of my uncle actually live in the same house with my uncle’s family and several other aunts and uncles live on the same block. Though it may not always be perfect when an extended family is living together, there are several good reasons why living with the extended family is preferable to living with only the nuclear family.

Should we ban mobile phones from school?
Nowadays mobile phones have become one of the most important parts of our life. I think almost everyone in our country has mobile phones. Needless to say we use it to make a call, take pictures, listen to music, and watch videos and so on. Also, it provides our daily needs such as making note, reminder and alarms. Instead of writing notes on some papers we can use our phone; it is so much easier than to just write it somewhere else. Therefore nothing can be as comfortable as phone can be. That is the reason why I like mobile phones.
However the main point is that should we ban it from school? I don’t think we have to. The reason is not just it’s so comfortable, but it’s that it may not cause so many troubles only if we can manage well. For example, some people say that when someone’s phone rings during the class it’s so disturbing. Yes I agree with this, when we are trying to learn something new and trying to concentrate mobile phones are troublesome. But don’t you think it’s too easy one to solve? In my opinion, we have to be respectful to each other and be responsible for this. Why can’t we turn off our phones before lesson starts? I think it’s really basic concept that everyone understands. Then, it cannot be the reason we should ban it from school.
Also, as I mentioned before cell phones are really comfortable. When you’re in hurry, or in danger you can have a contact to people by clicking on few buttons. So, it can be helpful to person who uses it. But on the other hand, because of its advantages we can do whatever we want, wherever we are. Such as playing games, listening to music during the lessons. But I think it cannot lead us to ban mobiles too. Because everyone does not do that, we have to think about all people’s right.
In conclusion, there is no any serious reason to ban mobile phones from school. However, we all have to think about using it in a right way.

Should parents limit the amount of television their children watch

First of all, I think it is important to say that the quality of television has improved a great deal in recent years. There is now a wide range of programs suitable for all ages and interests. In my opinion, there are many things that children can learn from television.

Should students only be judged by their results in end- of- year exam?

More and more in my country, student achievement is being based on a mixture of continuous assessment and end-of-year exams. Some people claim that this is leading to lower standarts in schools. But I do not believe this is true.
In my opinion, it is much fairer to allow the work students do during their school year to count towards their final result for various reasons.

We ruin our culture by ourselves, don`t we?

People visit museums when they traveling to new places because a museum tell them a lot about the culture of those places. Traveling through museum gives us chance to take a trip through this country`s history, and also they will show us what art the locals think is important. It is obvious that the museum obtains the country`s most important historical heritage. But, in my opinion, today Mongolians don`t recognize the importance of this thing. Even though they pay a lot of attention to other sectors such as the appearance of the city, and the development of the country, they don`t invest cultural things such as museum.

One example that we are not giving attention to our museums is shown by the equipments which are used to restore the exhibits. In other countries exhibits are restored by appropriate materials whereas in our country they use the cheapest materials. There is an ancient Mand shir`s monastery, now it is used by museum, is located in Tov aimag, and it is said that the monastery`s building getting worse because of Chinese cheap paint. Another example, how Mongolians paying attention to museum, is shown by throwing trash in the museum. Why don`t we show respect and proud of our culture while going through the museum?

Mongolian Secret Agency found people who tried to sell Mongolian`s valuable paleontological exhibits to other countries. It is so tragic that the sellers were Mongolian scientists. The exhibit was valued about 12million togrog. It is not whether the exhibit costs high or low, only think they need to know is it obtain s invaluable information about our culture. As Chinggis told that did not give our Mongolian`s land even though the god asked, we must keep our cultural thing in our country.

All in all, the only things I want to say is that the first of all let us save our history, and then talk about development.

A Newspaper letter

It is the time to change

After transmitting to market economy, a lot of private colleges and universities have been established in Mongolia. But we have to rely on theirs quality? Is there any standard for university or college? If there is, why the most of graduators have not practical competence? That is one of the biggest problems in our society. In consequence, unemployment and poverty is thriving nowadays.
